Watch Driver in Stolen Tractor-Trailer Ram Ore. Deputies' Cruisers
A driver in a stolen tractor-trailer rammed two Oregon deputies cruisers and led authorities on a chase that stretched into Washington on Monday.
Multnomah County sheriff's deputies responded to a stolen vehicle call at about 9 a.m. after the owner of a stolen tractor-trailer had tracked it to Fairview, KGW-TV reports. The vehicle was located in Blue Lake Regional Park, and deputies tried to box the tractor-trailer in there.
But the driver rammed at least two cruisers to escape, kicking off a 40-minute chase. Bystander video captured the tractor-trailer crashing into the units and moving them out of the way.
As the pursuit continued to the Oregon/Washington state line, deputies placed spike strips along the way. By the time the tractor-trailer reached the Glenn Jackson Memorial Bridge heading into Vancouver, the vehicle was traveling on two rims after the front tires had been shredded, and multiple back tires had been damaged.
At around 11:30 a.m., the tractor-trailer came to a stop, and the driver and a passenger were taken into custody. The passenger was later released without charges.
The driver—identified as Jesus "Jessie" Meza-Sanchez—was arrested and charged with assault, elude, criminal mischief and other counts.
A deputy suffered minor injuries in the incident and was rushed to the hospital.
